The experimental aerodynamics
of a research high-speed
low-pressure turbine stage
Abstract
The thesis investigates the experimental aerodynamics of a high-speed low-pressure turbine (LPT) stage representative of modern geared turbofan engines. It presents detailed aerothermal measurements of the flow across the stator and rotor rows, as well as within the hub and shroud cavities, obtained under realistic operating conditions. The study aims to improve understanding of purge-flow effects on high-speed LPT aerodynamics and stator–rotor interactions, while providing high-quality experimental data to support turbine design and the validation of numerical models.
