Lecturer in New Vehicle Architectures.

Could you briefly describe your background, your research topics and your conception of university teaching?

After obtaining my master's degree in civil mechanical engineering from the University of Liège in 2010, I decided to start my research career with a PhD thesis entitled "Structural optimization of flexible components within a multibody dynamics approach". In 2015, I had the privilege of being selected as one of the finalists for the best doctoral thesis in Europe in the field of "computational mechanics".

Following this, I decided to continue my career in the academic world with a first post-doctorate at Johns Hopkins University (USA) and a second at Toyota Central Research and Development Labs (Japan). International collaborations are essential in order to be at the cutting edge of research, to strengthen our network of collaborators and to propose and develop innovative ideas.

After three years abroad, I seized the opportunity to return to Europe and join Toyota Motor Europe's R&D division. My main task is to lead innovation and pre-development. My research activities are devoted to developing new design methods to optimize product quality and performance while reducing development time.

Toyota, one of the world's leading carmakers, has clearly expressed its commitment to sustainable development and has positioned this aspect at the heart of every activity. Moreover, Toyota's mission is to produce "Happiness for All", in particular by offering clean mobility that meets everyone's needs. For this reason, collaboration with the academic world is essential in order to innovate and mass-produce Happiness for All.

Through my part-time position, I hope to strengthen this link between academia and industry, so that we can meet the major challenges facing us.

In order to achieve this, we need future engineers with top-quality training to be able to ask and answer the right questions. It is with great enthusiasm that I wish to share my knowledge of these two worlds in order to contribute to the training of tomorrow's leaders and inspire them to tackle new challenges with strength and courage.
